Solutions to the Most Aggravating Workout Wardrobe Woes

Your sweat sessions will be a lot more enjoyable once you start wearing the right workout gear.

Sometimes working out can feel like going into battle. By the time I’m bandaging up my blisters, rubbing rash cream on unexpected places and limping around for the rest of the day, I seriously start to question why I exercise at all. Not to mention how completely non-sexy I can feel in certain workout clothes. Yes, I do run in my XXL Hanes T-Shirt from my 11th grade jogathon. What of it?  Well, I once stopped mid-jog to ask for the restroom in a drugstore and they asked me if I was looking for the women’s restroom. IF??

It seems like pain, irritation and humiliation are the costs you pay for burning a few calories. But I’ve learned that with a little preparation, they don’t have to be. Here are some things to remember when getting suited up for your sweat session.

Wear lighter, brighter colors on top. Unless you’re an Iron Man regular, you probably have some lumps and bumps you’d like to cover up on the lower half of your body. Draw attention away from the thighs, butt and hips by putting colors on the top.

Wear flared pants to balance out your figure. Those tight, footsy cyclist pants are skinny for a reason; cyclists are skinny. Really skinny! But if your body resembles that of a… oh… female’s, then flared bottoms will make your hips appear smaller.
